I think it's great to give to your constituents - to add value BUT everyone knows it is not altruistic. And, that's ok. I believe you can create a win/win and that it is alright for the other guy to win 'first'. I gotta tell ya - very little in life worth having, happens quickly. Establishing a social media presence is no different. I have a weekly blog too - MarketingSmack - and state some of these same principles; with less 'colorful' language.
