It seems like that’s what most people do these days. Facebook certainly has been acting a little weird lately. I am by no means a “Facebook junkie,” but I do like to pop in every once in a while. But man, Facebook has been pretty “wonky” lately. It seems like the “good folks” over at Facebook are always the target of web junkies and of course attorneys. I guess a lot of people get their accounts disabled (probably for randomly adding friends and I am sure many people report them, etc.). This lead to one attorney in Chicago all pumped up to file a class action lawsuit. He hasn’t filed it yet but there sure are quite a few people supporting his deeds.
I am not sure if the guy is really bothered by the fact that his account is disabled or that he knows he can get a decent publicity out of it. Think about it. If he files a lawsuit, the news will be everywhere. Of course the major blogs sucha as Techcrunch, Mashable, Cnet, etc. are going to cover it but traditional media such as TV, radio, newspaper, etc. are going to cover it as well. The attorney will sure have his name out. Good publicity or bad publicity? I guess it doesn’t really matter cause exposure is exposure, and lawyers aren’t really known to be on the good side of the public. It would be fun to see how this unfolds.
I checked on getsatisatisfaction and at the time of writing 42 people liked this Chicago attorneys idea of suing Facebook. We will wait and see what happens.
Now a little bit of my own frustration related to Facebook. It’s been a couple days now and I’ve been really frustrated with Facebook’s lack of fixing the “linking feature.” When I update my status with a link, the link shows (with description) on the link box but it also adds a link on the status which is really crappy. I am simply trying to share something and one link is more than enough, Facebook doesn’t really need to send out two links. It’s been 3-4 days and it still hasn’t been fixed. I am pissed and I think I might just end up suing them, yeah right. I got better things to do.

Looks like we will soon be seeing headlines such as “Chicago Attorney Sues Facebook.” Keep an eye out for it.

Hi, My name is Ritu. I am a member of SMA (Social Media Anonymous) ;-) & help bloggers and businesses utilize the social web.
Suing seems to be taking this issue a little overboard..
When including a link in a status message, it does automatically pop up the box underneath with the extra link and its information and all that. But there is an X you can click on to take that extra stuff off so that the only link will be the one you type. I hope that helps. Good article, as usual. =)
Hi Diane, thanks for stopping by. Yup, I now you can cross out that little box but I actually want that little box to show cause like you said it provides a bit of description (kind of gives an idea what its about). But once in a while I want to share my own thoughts on the links I send through my updates, so basically I want the link to show in that box with description and not on my update (cause then it would show the link twice). Before we used to be able to do that but seems like now if you put the link on the box it will show with description but will also show the link on my update. So it kind of defeats the purpose and makes it look spammy. Once again, thank you for stopping by
You’re welcome. I wonder… Can you type in the link, let the box pop up, and then erase the typed-in link from your status, so that only the box would be there? I’ll have to try that. Your stuff is so thought-provoking! =)
It’s fixed
I am a happy camper now
What can I do if I log into Facebook this morning June 20th, 2010 and who do I see wanting to be friends was my brother, who by the way has been dead since April 07, 2010 so I almost passed out I have heart problems and my chest is still heavy, I want to sue Facebook for them to delete his account so I don’t log on and get a friend request from a dead man.
